The Green Lantern's Story
When I vanquished Oblivion in a climactic battle for the very existence of Planet Earth, I did it by facing the essence of my fears and overcoming them.
The reward for my victory? Godhood, but omnipotence means nothing without the power of belief. The belief, from the people of Earth, that I truly stand for something. For justice...and the people.
My father was a CIA Agent, and spent his life serving the people of America. His service to our country meant his perpetual absence from my life, but I understand his dedication. Never in my travels through space and time have I encountered a people with such potential for good as the citizens of the United States. And here, in our nation's capitol, I have found and embraced the backbone of our democracy - the men and women of Washington, D.C.
I would proudly serve as your mayor. My Ring of Power would allow me to bend the fabric of our reality, but raw power alone does not create change. Change comes from focused collaboration, and the work we would do together to ensure that all citizens of D.C. can live in harmony.
Yes, as the Green Lantern I stand for justice. As a superhero, I fought and defeated some of the most terrible threats the people of Earth have faced.
As your mayor, I would turn the same energy to our struggle for statehood, for clean energy sources and new housing. For healthcare, for equal rights for all citizens.
This is my oath to you. Stand with me; use my strength, my super powers, to break down the walls. To lift each other up to the light of change, hope, and love.
